One of a coach’s greatest tools is the use of POWERFUL QUESTIONS. Powerful Questions place the individual or group being coached in a place of responsibility, encourage consideration of ideas and options otherwise not considered, validate the individual or group and keep the coaching process focused.
There are many different kinds of questions at the coach’s disposal: I.E. informative questions, motivational questions, probing questions, reflective questions. There is one set of questions that have been extremely helpful as I have worked with pastors and their congregations. They are “WHAT-and WHO-Based” questions.
