A Personal Board
of Directors
by Val Hastings,
Clergy Coach
Most successful organizations realize the importance of
establishing a BOARD OF DIRECTORS. The Board of Directors is a
devoted group of individuals who will champion the organization.
Their diverse background offers the organization a depth and
breadth of insight and expertise. Sometimes their involvement is
as simple as advice, while at other times their involvement
takes on a much more active role. In theory, the end result is
that the organization reaches a higher level of achievement and
success.
What if you recruited your own PERSONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS! What
if you surrounded yourself with a select group of individuals
who would champion your development and success! What if you
regularly invited these individuals to have a special role in
your life! Each member of this board would offer unique insights
and perform a unique function. Sometimes their function would be
to serve as your sounding board, other times their function
would be to actively use their own special expertise for your
benefit.
Who would be ideal for your PERSONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
Consider identifying individuals by roles or functions that they
could fulfill. Choose 6 to 8 roles/functions from the list below
that would best promote you and your mission. Then identify
individuals for your Board of Directors who will help fill that
function.
Possible roles and functions

Someone who encourages you to think about
your future.
-
Someone who has connections that can help
you.
-
Someone who is creative and has good
ideas.

find lacking in yourself.

spiritual self.
